Therapy Success Story

Woodridge Nursing and Rehabilitation admitted a patient in March 2019 who required 24-hour tracheostomy care. She received specialized clinical care through our Pulmonary Complex Specialty Program, with weekly visits from Dr. Vakil, our Medical Director. Through this program, she has now been downsized to a smaller trach, is using her Passy Muir Valve successfully and is now able to speak, which she was unable to do upon admission. LaSondra Burnett, our full-time Respiratory Therapist, speaks with the patient’s daughter weekly to discuss her mother’s progress and gives her updates. Her daughter told us that she believes her mom would not have achieved this level of progress if she would have been at any other nursing facility.
